Firmware

Updating your Cronus Zen firmware is one of the most important setup steps. If your firmware is out of date, your Zen may disconnect, your controller may stop responding, and scripts can glitch.

How to Update Firmware

  1. 1Plug the short micro-USB cable into the top CONSOLE port of your Zen, then plug the other end into your PC.
  2. 2Turn the Zen upside down. Press and hold the small blue button on the bottom until the Zen screen says Zen Bootloader.
  3. 3Open Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge and go to firmware.modcentral.ca.
  4. 4Click the Cronus Zen icon, select the Latest firmware version, then click Continue to install. It usually takes about 20 seconds.

How to Downgrade Firmware (Xbox Headset Fix)

If you play on Xbox and plug your headset directly into your controller, you might not hear any audio. This is a known issue with some newer Cronus Zen firmware versions. To fix it, downgrade your firmware to 2.0.9-beta.43.

  1. 1Put your Zen into Bootloader mode by holding the bottom button while plugging it in.
  2. 2Go to firmware.modcentral.ca.
  3. 3Instead of choosing the latest version, uncheck the box that says Hide older versions.
  4. 4Scroll down, select version 2.0.9-beta.43, then install it.

Xbox headset users

If you downgrade to 2.0.9-beta.43, do not update if Zen Studio asks you to. Stay on that version so your headset keeps working.
