Scoring Fundamentals - Basketball

There are more ways to score in basketball than standing threes and contact dunks. Here is how to score from everywhere on the floor.

Three-point shooting

The bread and butter. Most online points come from threes. To shoot consistently:

  • Turn off the shot meter for the hidden timing-window boost.
  • Use a fast base, such as Base 3, Base 98, Curry, or Tyceno. Faster releases give less time for contests.
  • Create space first. A step-back, screen, or off-ball cut opens threes better than contested ones.
  • Know your hotspots. 2K gives invisible boosts when you shoot from spots where you have previously made shots.

Dynasty + 3PT

Dynasty AI Auto-Green handles release timing for three-point shots. Your job is creating the open look, then Dynasty handles the release.

Mid-range game

The most underrated weapon in basketball. Most players online do not guard the mid-range because they expect threes. A pull-up mid from the elbow or free throw line is almost uncontestable if you know the spots.

  • Elbow pull-ups: Drive to the elbow area, stop, shoot. Very hard to contest.
  • Free throw line fades: Post up around the key, then fade away. Needs 75+ Mid-Range attribute.
  • Baseline floaters: Drive along the baseline and float it over the center. Floaters are strong in basketball.

Finishing at the rim

Contact dunks are flashy, but there are many ways to score inside:

MoveWhen to useAttribute needed
Contact dunkDriving with no blocker in positionDriving Dunk 84+ for pro contacts, 92+ for elite
Euro stepAvoiding a shot blocker on a driveDriving Layup 75+

Post scoring

If you are a big, post moves are your money makers. The post game in basketball is strong if you know the animations:

  • Post fade: Back down, tap shoot and away from basket. Effective from mid-range.
  • Post hook: Back down, tap shoot toward the basket. Hard to block, especially for 7-footers.
  • Post spin: Back down, spin toward baseline for a layup or dunk. Works when defender plays behind you.
  • Up-and-under: Post up, pump fake, then drive for the finish. Best move against shot-block-heavy centers.

Dynasty AI Button Tempo

Dynasty AI Button Tempo helps with timing for post fades, hooks, and contact dunks. Enable it and your post game becomes much more consistent.

Free throws

A lot of players miss free throws because they never practice them. The timing window for free throws is usually wider than jumpshots, but the timing feels different because there is no defender pressure. Dynasty AI Button Tempo can handle free throw timing automatically, so you only need to press the button and let the script finish the release.
